• Let total distance be "M".

》 A person covers 2/5th of the total distance by car, 3/10th by the bus and 1/5th by the auto rickshaw.

=> \dfrac{2}{5} of the total distance + \dfrac{3}{10} of the total distance + \dfrac{1}{5} of the total distance.

=> \dfrac{2M}{5}\dfrac{3M}{10} + \dfrac{1M}{5}

=> \dfrac{4M\:+\:3M\:+\:2M}{10}

=> \dfrac{9M}{10}

》 The remaining journey of man is 5 km on foots.

=> Total journey - Remaining journey

=> M - 5

According to question,

=> M - 5 = \dfrac{9M}{10}

Cross multiply them

=> 10(M - 5) = 9M

=> 10M - 50 = 9M

=> 10M - 9M = 50

=> M = 50

☆ VERIFICATION :

From above calculations we have = 50

Put value of M in this : M - 5 = \dfrac{9M}{10}

=> 50 - 5 = \dfrac{9(50)}{10}

=> 45 = \dfrac{450}{10}

=> 45 = 45
