To find :-
- Calculate the component of its weight parallel and perpendicular to the ramp.
Solution :-
- weight of the body is the force by which the earth pulls body towards itself due to gravity.This means that weight of the body is equal to gravitational force excreted on it .On the surface of the earth the gravitational force directed towards downwards.It is given that weight of the man and wheel chair is equal to 900N.Therefore vector of the weight can be drawn is given in figure.
- It is said the man is travelling with a constant speed of ramp.which is inclined at an angle of 37 degree with the horizontal.
- From the figure we get angle between plane and weight is 53 degree.
- Therefore the component of the weight parallel to the plane is
- And component perpendicular to plane W parallel to 900sin53degree.
