as it is a non-inertial frame the net acceleration of the particle will be 10 + 2 m/s2 (taking g=10)
when it will fall back into his hands the displacement of the particle will be zero with respect to the man
so
using formula
s=ut+1/2 at^2
0=20t-1/2 x 12 x t^2
we neglect t=0
20-6t=0
t= 20/6
t=10/3 sec
