A person is having TV = 450 ml and dead space
130 ml. His breathing rate = 14/min.
What will be the alveolar ventilation rate for him?
(1) 2 L/min
125 4.4 L/min
(3) 5.4 L/min

Answer:

1) 2L/min

Explanation:

Total minute ventilation is comprised of dead space plus alveolar ventilation. Minute ventilation is respiratory frequency (14 breaths per minute) multiplied by tidal volume (450 mL/breath) = 6300 mL/min. Subtract from that alveolar ventilation (4200 mL/min) le., 6300 - 130 = 1670 mL/min. So by round off we can say 2L/min.

Hope this will help you!!
