Sand is made up of small particles which can take Shape of the person on falling while this won't happen on the hard surface.
Hard surface is harder than the body.
The body is harder than the sandy surface...

HOPE IT HELPS....

because when we fall we are acted upon by the gravity it increase our velocitythus our momentum so when we hit a hard surface we are stopped suddenly and a huge momentum is transferred to the ground in very less span of time but on the other hand when we hit a sandy surface our momentum gets a little more time to get transferred thus reducing the impact so that's why we are prone to get more injured when we hit a hard surface than a sandy suface
