Hii.

Here's your answer..

A Person start moving towards North (A to B or AB) from any point. He moves = 3m north.

And then he moves = 4m towards east ( B to C or BC )

And then again he start moving towards south ( C to D or CD ) He moves = 6m.

So the distance travel by a person is

So the distance travel by a person is = AB + BC + CD = Distance.

So the distance travel by a person is = AB + BC + CD = Distance.= 3m + 4m + 6m = 13m

In distance it is 13m because we know that Distance travel is a scalar quantity in Physics. And scalar quantity do not have direction but have magnitude.. That's why it is 13m..

And for Displacement..

And for Displacement.. We know that Displacement is a shortest distance between the initial and final position..

For Displacement we will use Pythagoras Theorem..

AD² = AE² + ED²

AD² = AE² + ED²AE = BC = 4m.

AD² = AE² + ED²AE = BC = 4m.EC = AB = 3m.

AD² = AE² + ED²AE = BC = 4m.EC = AB = 3m.ED = 6 – EC = 3m.

Therefore, AD² = 4² + 3² = 16 + 9 = 25.

AD² = 4² + 3² = 16 + 9 = 25.So, AD = √25 = 5m.

Hence the displacement of the person is 5m..

Distance Traveled = 13m

Displacement = 5m.
