Distance covered is 5 + 4 + 5 so 14m

For displacement is the distance from where he is now to his starting point. If he walked back to where he was it would make a triangle so you need to calculate the length of the hypotenuse using pythagoras' theorem.

So 5^2 + 9^2 = c^2

106=c^2

c = 10.3m
