solution :

Let, M. P. is x rs

given,

discount = 20% of rs x

= 20/100 x x

= 4x/20

S.P. = Rs [x - (4x/20)]

= rs 16x/20

according to given question,

16x/20 = 600

x = (600 x 20)/16

x = 12000/16

x = 750

=> thus the market price of the shirt was Rs 750
