Given, Profit% = 20% Gain over 1 cycle = Rs 360 Gain% = (gain/CP) × 100 20 = 360/CP × 100 20/100 = 360/CP CP = Rs 1800 By using the formula, SP = (100 + gain%)/100 × CP = (100 + 20)/100 × 1800 = 120/100 × 1800 = Rs 2160 Given, Discount = 20% MP = (100 × SP) / (100 – Discount %) = (100 × 2160) / (100 – 20) = 216000/80 = Rs 2700 ∴

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

A person purchases four bicycle at a discount of 20% on marked price on each bicycle.if sum of discount offer and profit obtained on 4 bicycle is 2560 .

To find:-

Find the difference in markes price and cost price on one bicycle?

Solution:-

Let the marked Price of each bicycle be Rs. X

Discount on each cycle =20% of Marked Price

=> 20% of MP

=> 20% of X

=>( 20/100) of X

=> (1/5)×X

=> (1×X)/5

=> X/5

Discount on each bicycle = Rs. X/5

Discount on 4 bicycles

=> 4×(X/5)

=> Rs. 4X/5

Discount on 4 bicycles = Rs. 4X/5

We know that

Selling Price = MP - Discount

Selling Price of each bicycle

=> X-(X/5)

=> (5X-X)/5.

=> 4X/5

Selling Price of each bicycle = Rs. 4X/5

Selling Price of 4 bicycles

=>4×4X/5

=> 16X/5

Selling Price of 4 bicycles = Rs. (16X/5)

Given that

Sum of the discount offer and profit on 4 bicycles = Rs. 2560

=> Discount on 4 bicycles + Profit on 4 bicycles

=> (4X/5)+Profit on 4 bicycles = 2560

=>(4X/5) +P = 2560

=> P = 2560-(4X/5)

Profit on 4 bicycles = Rs. [2560-(4X/5)]

We know that

Cost Price = Selling Price - Profit

=> Cost Price of 4 bicycles

=> CP = (16X/5)-(2560-4X/5)

=> CP = (16X/5)-(12800-4X)/5

=> CP = [(16X)-(12800-4X)]/5

=> CP =( 16X+4X-12800)/5

=> CP = (20X-12800)/5

=> CP = 5(4X-2560)/5

=> CP = Rs. (4X-2560)

=> Cost Price of 4 bicycles =Rs. (4X-2560)

=> Cost Price of one bicycle

=> CP = (4X-2560)/4

=> CP =4(X-640)/4

=>CP = Rs. (X-640)

Cost price of one bicycle= Rs. (X-640)

Now

Difference between the Marked Price and the Cost Price of one bicycle

=> X - (X-640)

=>X-X+640

=>640

Their difference = Rs. 640

Answer:-

The difference between the Marked Price and the Cost Price of one bicycle is Rs. 640

Used formulae:-

  • Discount = Marked Price- Selling Price

  • Cost Price = Selling Price-Profit
