Unit vector notation of force F.
Solution,
We know that,
Fx = F cos θ
= 100 x cos 45°
= 100 x 1/√2
= 50√2 (i)
And,
Fy = F sin θ
= 100 x sin 45°
= 100 x 1/√2
= 50√2 (-j)
∴ F = Fx +Fy
= 50√2 (i) + 50√2 (-j)
= 50√2 (i-j)
Hence, in unit vector notation force F can be expressed as 50√2(i-j).
