• Let present age of mother be "M" years.

》 A person's age is two fifth the age of his mother age.

Age of person = (2M/5) years

After 8 years,

• Age of mother = (M + 8) years

• Age of person = (2M/5 + 8) years

According to question,

=> 1/2(M + 8) = 2M/5 + 8

=> 1/2(M + 8) = (2M + 40)/5

=> 5(M + 8) = 2(2M + 40)

=> 5M + 40 = 4M + 80

=> 5M - 4M = 80 - 40

=> M = 40

Present age of mother is 40 years.

☆ VERIFICATION:

From above calculations we have M = 40

Put value of M in this :

=> 1/2(M + 8) = 2M/5 + 8

=> => 1/2(M + 8) = (2M + 40)/5

=> 5(M + 8) = 2(2M + 40)

=> 5M + 40 = 4M + 80

=> 5(40) + 40 = 4(40) + 80

=> 200 + 40 = 160 + 80

=> 240 = 240
