Hi there!
Here's the answer:

•°•°•°•°•°<><><<><>><><>•°•°•°•°•°

Let the present age of Mother be x
& the present age of person(or) son = (2/5)x = 2x/5
( Given, Son's present age = (2/5) × Mother's age )

After 8 years,
Mother's age = x + 8
& son's age = (2x/5) + 8 = (2x+40)/8

Given that,
Now,
Son's Age = (1/2) × (Mother's age)
=> (2x+40)/5 = (1/2) × (x+8)
=> 2(2x+40) = 5(x+8)
=> 4x+80 = 5x+40
=> 5x-4x = 80-40
=> x = 40

•°• Present age of Mother x = 40
& Present age of Person 2x/5 = 80/5 = 16

Answer:

Let the mother age be x years.

Then, the persons present age will be 2/5 x years.

According to Question now,

(2/5 x + 8) = 1/2 x + 8

2(2x + 40) = 5(x + 8)

x = 40 years
