In the 10 year he saves Rs 16500
Think of this as an AP.
d=Rs 100
Given d=100
Sn= 16500
n=10
We have to find a
Sn=n/2*[2a+(n-1)d]
16500=10/2*[2a+9*100]
16500=5*[2a+900]
3300=2a+900
2a=2400
a=2400/2
=1200
So his saving for the first year was 1200.
Hope it helps.
