Let the amount of money he saved in first year be x rupees.
According to the question his savings will be as( x , x+200 , x+400, x+600, x+800, x+1000 , x+1200, x+1400 ) rupees ....
Therefore the sum taken will give 9760.
i.e
8x+200+400+600+800+1000+1200+1400 = 9760
i.e
8x+ 5600 = 9760
8x = 9760-5600
8x = 4160
x = 4160/8
x = 520
Hence , the amount he saved in the first year was Rs.520.
