Let the no. of goose bought = x

then, the no. of ducks bought = 108-x

cost of 1 goose = ₹7

cost of all goose = ₹7x

cost of 1 duck = ₹3

cost of all duck = ₹3(108-x) = ₹324-3x

A/q

₹7x + ₹324-3x = ₹ 564

324+4x = 564

4x = 564-324

4x = 240

x =60

No of goose = 60

No of duck = 108-60 =48

Given -:

Total money spent = ₹564

Cost of geese = ₹7

Cost of duck = ₹3

Total birds bought = 108 .

To find -:

How many of birds of each type were bought .

Solution -:

Assume ,

Number of geese bought as x

Therefore , Number of ducks bought = 108 - x

→ Total money spent =

Cost of a geese × Number of geese bought + Cost of a duck × Number of ducks bought ..

Therefore , equation =

564 = 7x + 3(108 - x)

564 = 7x + 324 - 3x

564 = 4x + 324

4x = 564 - 324

4x = 240

 x = \dfrac{\cancel{240}}{\cancel{4}}

 \purple{x = 60}

Therefore ,

Number of geese bought = x = 60.

Number of ducks bought = (108 - x) =

108 - 60 = 48 .
