Given :

  • Total money spent by the person = ₹564
  • Cost of geese = ₹7
  • Cost of duck = ₹3
  • Total birds bought = 108 .

To find : —

  • How many of birds of each type were bought by the person

Solution : —

Let us consider, the number of geese bought as x

so, the number of ducks bought will be = 108 - x

Total money spent = (Cost of a geese × Number of geese bought) + (Cost of a duck × Number of ducks bought)

564 = 7x + 3(108 - x)

564 = 7x + 324 - 3x

564 = 4x + 324

4x = 564 - 324

4x = 240

x = \sf{\dfrac{\cancel{240}}{\cancel{\; \; \; 4}}}

x = 60

Now,

  • The number of geese (x) = 60.
  • Number of ducks (108 - x) = 108 - 60 = 48 .
