Step-by-step explanation:

let number of pencil be X

let number of pen be Y

7Y + 3X = 564 ----- eq. 1

X + Y = 108 ------ eq. 2

X = 108 - Y

put value of X in eq. 1

7Y +3(108 - Y) = 564

7Y + 324 - 3Y = 564

4Y = 564 - 324

4Y = 240

Y = 240/4

Y = 80

PUT VALUE OF Y IN eq. 2

X + Y = 108

X + 80 = 108

X = 108 - 80

X = 28

number of pencil = 28

number of pen = 80
