so, number of pencils is 108- x

total cost of all pens= rs. 7x

cost of each pencil= rs 3

total cost of pencils= rs. 3(108-x) = rs. 324- 3x

According to given condition

7x + 324- 3x= 564

4x + 324= 564

4x = 564- 324

4x = 240

x= 240/4

x= 60

hence,

total pens bought= x= 60

total pencils bought= 108- x = 108- 60= 48
