Hi buddy !

For the first echo , the sound takes a time of 2 sec to reach the nearest cliff which is 640 m, therefore, using the formula,

v = S/ t = 640 /2 = 320 ms^-1

Let x be the distance of the second cliff from the person .

Now the distance travelled by the sound echo to the second cliff is:-

x= v ×t = 320 ×3.5 = 1120 m

Thanks!

Explanation:

As we know.....

Velocity = 1280/4 = 320

2d/3 = 320

2d = 320 × 3

2d = 960

d = 960/2 = 480 m

Distance between the cliffs =

640+480=1120 m
