Speed = Distance/Time
Distance = 640
Time = 4/2
(i) Velocity of sound
= (640)/(4/2)
= 320 m/s

320 = 2x/7
x = 160×7
x = 1120 m

(ii) Distance between two cliffs
= x+640
= 1120+640
= 1760 m

i)
Distance , d = 640 m
Time = 4 sec
2 d = v × t
2× 640 = v × 4
1280 = v × 4
v = 1280 ÷ 4
= 320 m/s
Velocity of sound in air = 320 m/s

2)
v = 320 m/s
t = 3 sec
2 d = v × t
= 320 × 3
= 960
d = 960 ÷ 2
d = 480 m
Distance of the person from the nearest cliff = 640 m
Distance of the person from the other cliff = 480 m
Distance between the cliffs = 640 + 480
= 1120 metres
