We know that Speed =Distance/Time

but here the sound gets again reflected back from the hill acting as a reflecting surface

= speed = distance(initial) + distance(reflected)/time

= speed = 2 distance /time

= 2 distance = speed× time

= 2 distance = (340×1) m [substituting the values]

= 2 distance = 340 m

= distance = (340/2)m

= distance = 170m (Ans)

Therefore, the distance in between the person who fires the bullet and the reflecting source is 170 m (Ans)
