average speed = total distance is covered / total time taken..

so putting all the values we get :

$\frac{ 100 + 80 + 45}{40 + 40 + 20} m {s}^{ - 1}$

so we get

$average \: speed \: = \frac{225}{100} m {s}^{ - 1}$

finally,

$average \: speed \: = 22.5m {s}^{ - 1}$
