Answer:-

Given:-

  • Case¹ :

Distance = 100 m

Time = 40 s

  • Case² :

Distance = 80 m

Time = 40 s

  • Case³ :

Distance = 45 m

Time = 20 s

To Find:-

Average speed of the swimmer.

_________...

We know,

Average speed = (Total distance covered)/(Total time taken)

∴ v(av) = (100m + 80m + 45m)/(40s + 40s + 20s)

➵ v(av) = (225m)/(100s)

v(av) = 2.25 m s^-1

Average speed of the swimmer was 2.25 m s^-1.
