A person travelled with a speed of 50 kmph for 1 hour and with 20 kmph for next 2 hours. find the average speed for whole journey?

average speed = total distance / total time

we dont know the total distance so we will calculate it.

d = s*t

d1 = 50*1

d1 = 50km

d2 = s*t

d2 = 20*2

d2 = 40km

total distance = d1 + d2

= 50+40 = 90km

average speed = total distance / total time

total time = 2+1 = 3 hours

av. speed = 90/3

av. speed = 30km/h
