circumference of the circle with radius R is 2piR, the person travels a distance piR along the circumference, so the person basically covered half the circle. so he is indeed at the opposite point from where he started. the displacement thus is 2R

circumference of the circle =2piR
from the given value we see that the distance travelled by the person =1/2 the circumference of the circle
displacement =2R
