Answer:

Will be visiting Pakistan (from Blighty) for a holiday next month and will need to travel from Lahore to Karachi and back. Instead of the quicker air route, we (me & missus) are planning to take the train instead in both directions for a bit of an adventure. We’re trying to decide which trains to take and need a bit of guidance. I believe the Green Line is easily the best train for comfort & punctuality but as this train mostly travels overnight, we won’t see much outside. So as a compromise, we’re thinking of taking the daytime Shalimar Express from Lahore to Karachi (leaves Lahore at 6am) in Parlour Class and the Green Line back to Lahore. A couple of questions:

A couple of questions:1) How comfortable & reliable is the daytime Shalimar express from Lahore to Karachi? My missus isn’t that keen on it, but the Parlour AC class (open plan seating?) looks comfortable from the photos. Is this train usually on time?

We’ll give the contact no of a relative in PK and already have our NIC/NICOP numbers. If we are able to book online, once tickets are booked online are they 100% confirmed with seats guaranteed?
