Given,

Distance traveled by a person = 100m, 200m, and 50m

Time taken by the person = 5 min, 7 min, and 4 min

To Find,

The average speed of the person.

Solution,

The formula for calculating the average speed is

Average speed = Total distance travelled/Total time taken

Total distance = 100+200+50 = 350m

Total time = 5+7+4 = 16 min = 960 seconds.

Now,

Average speed = 350/960

                           = 0.36 m/sec

Hence, the average speed of the person is 0.36 m/sec.

Average speed is calculated by dividing the total distance that something has traveled by the total amount of time it took it to travel that distance.

Total distance =100m+200m+50m

=350m

Total time taken =(5+7+4)min

=16min

=960sec              (1min=60 sec)

Using formula

Average speed =\frac{Total  distance}{Total  time  taken}

=\frac{350m}{960sec}=0.36m/s
