The max magnitude of displacement is when he travels from one vertex to its opposite.
Therefore the max displacement is 100√2 m

Join diagonals of the square to obtain 4 triangles . use Pythagoras theorem in the triangle you will get length of diagonal = 100 *1.414= 141.4 metres
