Given :  A person who weighs 500 N runs up a flight of stairs in 5 s .

.Their gain in height is 3 m.

To Find : The  rate at which work is done against the force of gravity.

Solution:

Work done = mg Δh

500 N = mg

Δh = 3 m

=> Work done = 500 * 3 Nm

=> Work Done = 1500  Nm

time taken = 5 sec

Rate at which work done  = Work Done. Time

= 1500/5

= 300  Nm/s

= 300 W

rate at which work is done against the force of gravity = 300 W
