A physical quantity P is related to four observables a, b, c and d as follows: X=a3b2 . The percentage errors of measurement in a, b, are 1%, 3%, , respectively. What is the percentage error in the quantity X?

Percentage error in X

 = 3 \frac{ \triangle \: a}{a}  \times 100 + 2 \frac{\triangle \: b}{b}  \times 100

now, put the values...

 = 3 \times 1 + 2 \times 3

 = 3 + 6

 = 9 percent
