The piece of wood floats in water because the density of water is more than the density of the piece of wood.

So, the buoyant force exerted on the piece of wood is more than its weight

But if the piece of wood is kept in alcohol, it will sink sink because, the density of alcohol is less than the density of the piece of wood.

Hence, buoyant force exerted on the piece of wood is less than its weight.

Hope you understood.

when wood block is kept in water it floats as it's density is less in that but if we replace water by alcohol it sinks because the density of water is though low in water but alcohol has less as compared to wood so wood flaots

alcohol<wood<water
