The picture frame is a rectangle.
so it's diagonal=√{(80^2)+(60^2)}
=√(6400+3600)
=√10000
=100. ans

QUESTION ----- a picture frame has dimensions 80 cm by 60 cm . ehat is the length of its diagonal ?

ANSWER -----

THE PICTURE FRAME IS A RECTANGLE

This implies that It has 90° angle at its corner

If you draw the diagonal then you will get 2 right angle triangles whose

Base = 80 cm
Height = 60 cm
Hypotenuse = ?

USING PYTHAGORAS THEOREM,

(Hypotenuse) ^2 = (Base) ^2 + (Height) ^2

( Hypotenuse) ^2 = 80^2 + 60^2

( Hypotenuse) ^2 = 6400 + 3600

( Hypotenuse) ^2 = 10000

Hypotenuse = √10000

Hypotenuse = 100 cm
