area of cardboard = 50*30 = 1500 sq.cm
now, area including the margin
therefore, length = 50+2.5+2.5 =55
                braedth = 30+2.5+2.5 = 35
whole  area = 55*35 = 1925 sq.cm
hence, area of margin = 1925-1500 =425 sq.cm

Hello !
Length (L)= 50 cm
Breadth (B)= 30 cm
Length after adding the margin (L1)  = 50 - (2.5 + 2.5)=55 cm
Breadth after adding the margin (B1) = 30 - 5 = 35 cm
Area of the margin = Total area of cardboard - area of rectangular cardboard dimensions 50 ×30
Area = (55 × 35) -( 50×30)
⇒ Area = 1925 - 1500
Area = 425 cm²                                      Ans.
Hence the area of the margin is 425 cm²
I hope the answer is correct !
