Step-by-step explanation:

Length of painted cardboard=8 cm and breadth of painted card =5cm

Since, there is a margin of 1.5cm long from each of its side.

Therefore reduced length

=8−(1.5+1.5)=8−3=5cm

And reduced breadth

=5−(1.5+1.5)=5−3=2cm

∴ Area of margin=Area of cardboard(ABCD)−Area of cardboard (EFGH)

=(AB×AD)−(EF×EH)

=(8×5)−(5×2)

=40−10

=30cm^2.

total area of the margin =30 cm^2

The given question is A picture of length 23 cm and breadth 11 cm is painted on a chart, such that

there is a margin of 3 cm along each of its sides.

we have to find the total area of the margin.

The length of the painted cardboard is 23 cm

The breadth of the painted cardboard is 11 cm

There is a margin on all sides with 3 cm

If length side take the margin is of 1.5 cm on each side

it is same on the breadth side also 1.5 cm on each side

Therefore, the length of the cardboard without margin is

23-3=20cm

The breadth of the card board without margin is

11-3=8 cm.

Area of the margin is given by the difference between the area of the original cardboard and area of the new cardboard.

The area of the cardboard is length x breadth

x = (23\times 11) - (20\times 8) \\  = 253- 160 \\  = 93 {cm}^{2}

Therefore, the final answer is 93 centimeter square.
