QUESTION :

A piece of a pipe is cut in the three parts in the ratio of 1:2:5 if the difference between smaller and larger piece is 36 cm find the length of pipe before cutting.

SOLUTION :

GIVEN :

The difference between smaller and larger piece is 36 cm.

=> just let them be x

=> x, 2x and 5x

=> 5x - X = 36

=> 4x = 36

=> x = 36/4

=> x = 9 cm

then, putting the value of X in given numbers.

=> x = 9 cm

=> 2x = 18 cm

=> 5x = 45 cm

now, calculate them :-

=> 9 + 18 + 45

=> 72 cm

so, the length of the pipe will be 72 cm
