If you place a moistened piece of bread in warm place for several days, you will observe that a black powder looking growth appears on the surface of bread. This black powder is called bread mold.

Bread mold is the most commonly known mold that grows on bread, pickles, fruits etc. A wet piece of bread is a hot bed for the bread mold to grow.

In few days, you will observe that the whole surface of bread will be covered with it and looks black in color.

When a piece of bread is moistened and placed in a warm place for two to three days it is observed that it has a formation of mold or fungi on its surface.

The "most common bread" mold or fungi is Rhizopus stolonifera or the black bread mold.

The fungi are saprophytic organisms that grow on food species they are present in the atmosphere in "the form" of tiny spores, when they come across dead and decaying matter they occupy the territory and start growing.
