a piece of chalk can be broken dawn in to small piece when hammered but it is not posdibel to do so in case of an iron bar?explain

we r able to break chalk bcz it has less force of attraction between them
&
we r not able to break an iron bar bcz it has large force of attraction between them

a piece of chalk can be broken down in to small piece when hammered because the force of attraction is less in chalk whereas iron has greater intermolecular force of attraction
