yes a piece of that can be broken into a small a small particles but it is not possible to do in case of piece of iron bar because the attraction force between the molecules of chalk pieces is less than the attraction forces between the piece of iron bar this attraction force is known as intermolecular attraction force which is larger in iron bar . hope it will help you
