a piece of chalk can be broken into small particles by hammering but a piece of iron cannot be broken into small particles by having which characteristic of the particles of matter is illustrated by this observation​

because the intermolecular force is less in chalk that's why it got broken when we harm it with hammer.but iron's particles or atoms attached with each other. that's why it can't broke.

the propery which clarify it is that the every substance's particles attract each other
