A piece of chalk can be broken into small particles by hammering but a piece of iron cannot be broken into small particles by hammering. Which characteristics of the particles of matter is illustrated by these observations

because the force of attraction between particles of chalk is less than force of attraction between a piece of iron. so we can easily break chalk into pieces by hammering but not a piece of iron
