A piece of cloth costs rs 200. if the pieces were 5 meter longer and each meter of cloth costs rs.2 less, the cost of the piece woud hae remained unchanged. how long is the piece and what is its original rate per meter

Let the price per meter be y.

NOW,

200 = xy.

NOW,

(x + 5) (y-2) = 200

So,

xy - 2x + 5y - 10 = xy

=> -2x + 5y - 10 = 0

So,

2x - 5y + 10 = 0.......... ( taking '-' common)

Sum = -5

Product = 20

So,

Since # b²- 4ac <0 #

There is no real condition which satisfy this.
