A piece of cloth was soaked in water. Then it was soaked in oil and burnt . The cloth burnt but did not catch fire . Why?

When u soaked the cloth with water it got wet.After that it was soaked in oil which forms a layer over the water molecules.Thus was not in direct contact with the cloth because oil has less density than water and thus lies above the water molecules.Thus when the cloth was burned,the top layer which was oil catches fire and burns completely thus leaving the cloth as it is....
