A piece of metal is in the form of a cylinder of radius 0.2cm and length 2cm. It is drawn out into a wire of diameter 1mm. What is the length of the wire so obtained?

Step-by-step explanation: volume of the cylinder = πr^2h

Rad=0.2 cm= 2 mm

Len=2 cm = 20mm

Hence, vol1= π*2*2*20 mm^2 -------(A)


Dia of wire=1 mm

Rad = 1/2 mm


Vol of cylinder has been changed to wire ..so vol would remain the same.

Hence,

Vol of wire= vol of cylinder

From (A),

πr^l= π*2*2*20

π*1/2*1/2*Len = π*80


Cancelling π on both sides

1/4* Len = 80

Hence, Len = 80*4 = 320 mm = 32 cm
