A piece of paper is burnt inside a glass tumbler and the tumbler is then inverted quickly over a trough of water . explain , why the water in the tumbler rises

This happens because the burning of paper converts the oxygen present in glass tumbler into Carbon dioxide and creates a suction. When this tumbler is inverted over a through containing water, the water level rises on the glass.
