a piece of paper is held between a bar magnet and a paper clip. the paper clip does not drop. what can u infer from this observation​

we can infer from the observation that the paper clip is containing some metal pieces by which the magnet get attract to it get stuck

and the paper was minimizing the strength of magnetic effect but it was still capable of attraction

The conclusion that we can draw from the experiment is that the  force of magnetism is stronger than the weight of the piece of paper.

  • The  force of magnetism is the normal reaction force for the paper. If the normal reaction force is higher, then the value of friction will also be higher. Since the paper clip is made up of iron it is attracted by the bar magnet.
  • Since friction is the only force in this case that opposes the gravitational force of the paper hence the the force of friction is more than the gravitational force to maintain equilibrium of the paper.
