length of wire = 7/8meters
after break , length of one piece
of wire = 1/4 meters

second is = x

so, 1/4+x=7/8
(1+4x)/4=7/8
= 5/8

1/4+5/8=7/8
7/8=7/8

Solutions :-

Given :
Length of rod = 7/8 m

After broken the rod into two pieces,
Length of one piece of rod = 1/4 m

Let the length of the other piece be x

A/q

 =  > x +  \frac{1}{4}  =  \frac{7}{8}  \\  \\  =  > x =   \frac{7}{8}  - \frac{1}{4}  \\  \\  =  > x =  \frac{7 - 2}{8}  =  \frac{5}{8}

Hence,
The length of the other piece of rod = 5/8 m
