A piece of steel can be made into a magnet by repeatedly stroking it with a magnet as shown in Figure 16.6. How does this affect the domains?

Due to stroking the piece of steel, the domains which are randomly arranged get aligned in the direction of stroking by the magnet. Due to this alignment of the domains, the piece of steel attains magnetic properties.
