Given:

✰ A piece of wire 22 cm long is bent to form the shape of a circle.

To find:

✠ The radius a circle.

✠ Area of a circle.

✠ Side of a square, if the same wire is bent into the shape of a square.

Solution:

We will find radius of a circle using formula to calculate circumference of a circle because the length of the wire is equal to the circumference of circle. Putting the value in the formula forming an equation and doing required calculations, we can easily find out the radius of a circle.

Length of wire = Circumference of circle

⟹ 22 = 2πr

⟹ 22 = 2 × 22/7 × r

⟹ r = (22 × 7)/(2 × 22)

⟹ r = 7/2

⟹ r = 3.5 cm

The radius a circle = 3.5 cm

Now we will find area of a circle by using formula,

Area of circle = πr²

⟹ Area of circle = 22/7 × 3.5 × 3.5

⟹ Area of circle = 22 × 0.5 × 3.5

⟹ Area of circle = 11 × 3.5

⟹ Area of circle = 38.5 cm²

Area of circle = 38.5 cm²

Now,

Side of the square we will calculate by using the formula of perimeter because the length of the wire is equal to the perimeter of a square.

Length of wire = Perimeter of a square

⟹ 22 = 4 × side

⟹ side = 22/4

⟹ side = 5.5 cm

Side of a square = 5.5 cm
