Step-by-step explanation:

TOTAL LENGTH OF THE WIRE=3/4

NOW THE WIRE BROKE INTO TWO PIECES

LET THE PIECES BE "X" AND "Y"

X+Y=3/4

NOW LENGTH OF ONE PIECE IS GIVE AS 1/2

LET Y BE THE PIECE OF LENGTH 1/2

x +  \frac{1}{2}  = \frac{3}{4}

=

x =  \frac{3}{4}  -  \frac{1}{2}

TAKE LCM

=

x =  \frac{3 - 1(2)}{4}

=

x =  \frac{3 - 2}{4}

=

x =  \frac{1}{4}

THEREFORE THE LENGTH OF OTHER PIECE IS 1/4
