Answer:

Length of the third piece=7/20m

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

A piece of wire 3/4m long was cut into 3 pieces.the first piece was 3/20m long while the second piece was 5/3 of the first.

To find:-

how long was the 3rd piece?

Solution:-

Length of the piece of wire=3/4 m

It is cut into 3 pieces

Length of the first piece =3/20m

Length of the second piece=5/3 of the first

=>(5/3)×(3/20)

=>(5×3)/(3×20)

=>15/60

=>1/4 m

Length of the second piece=1/4m

Now,Length of the third piece=

Length of the wire -(Sum of the lengths first and second pieces)

=>Length of the third piece=(3/4)-(3/20+1/4)

=>(3/4)-[(3+5)/20]

=>(3/4)-(8/20)

=>(3/4)-(2/5)

=>(15-8)/20

=>7/20m

Answer:-

Length of the third piece=7/20m
